WyoTech
WyoTech is a technical school that currently has six locations in four states. WyoTech offers career choices in the automotive, diesel, motorcycle, collision and refinishing, plumbing, and electrical fields. The programs at WyoTech are career-focused and short-term. The vast majority of programs can be completed in 16 months. The goal of every program at WyoTech is for the graduate to find a career in their chosen industry.
The automotive technology program includes basic engine management systems, drivability diagnostics, drivetrain systems, and chassis. The basic engine management system course introduces students to basic principles in electricity, starting and charging systems, engine theory, cooling and lubricant systems, and hood noise diagnosis.
The drivability course teaches students about alternative fuel systems, powertrain control systems, electronic ignition statistics, electric and hybrid vehicle systems, exhaust systems, emission systems, and customer service principles. Students are able to use state of the art diagnostic equipment to discover drivability issues.
Students who choose to study the automotive technician program can specialize in areas such as applied service management, motorsports chassis fabrication, high performance powertrain, street rod and custom fabrication, light-duty diesel, advanced automotive diagnostics/smog certification, automotive/diesel combination, performance mechanical, performance electronics, and advanced training options.
Students who attend WyoTech can choose to pursue their education full-time or part-time depending on their schedules. Many students who attend WyoTech are able to pursue their education while simultaneously working and participating in extracurricular activities.
Upon graduation students can also participate in the job location program to help them get going in their new career field. Students learn how to write resumes, search for jobs on the internet, participate in industry specific mock interviews, and network with potential employers. Although WyoTech cannot guarantee a job for all students who participate in career services, their chances increase by participating.
