New England Institute of Technology
New England Institute of Technology originated in 1940. Since then the school has advanced through the years and is one of the leading technical training schools in the country. Through hands-on training and technical studies students are able to receive associate’s or bachelor’s degrees in a wide variety of programs such as architecture and design, electronics, mechanical engineering, medical, and transportation. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges through the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.
The transportation program at the New England Institute of Technology includes degree options in automotive technology, auto body technology, automotive collision repair technology, and marine technology. In the automotive technology program students are eligible to earn an associate’s degree in as few as 18 months. Some of the courses covered in the curriculum include basic engine theory, advanced engines, basic electricity, suspension and steering, automotive fuel systems, ignition systems, heating and air conditioning, and power trains. All courses include both lecture material and hands-on laboratory training.
An associate of science degree is also available in automotive collision repair technology. Upon completion of all prerequisites students become eligible to continue their education for a Bachelor of Science degree in business management technology. Some of the courses offered in this program include transportation technology, the fundamentals of auto body metal repair, major and minor frame and structural straightening, plastic panel repair, automotive braking systems, heating and air conditioning, and electricity fundamentals. All courses include a laboratory that provides students with hands-on experience and training.
A career services department is available on campus and provides students with a variety of employment and career assistance and training options. Resume preparation, interviewing techniques, job hunting skills, and career placement are all found in the career services department.
Associate's Degree in Automotive Technology

Associate's in Automotive Collision Repair Technology
Our flexible day and night programs allow you to earn an associate's degree in 18 months! You will get hands on training on the best equipment. You will receive training in all areas of Auto Body Technology, from the basics to the most advanced skills, including how to repair and refinish damage from collisions.
In Theory and Practice you will learn:
- Sheet metal repair and replacement, repair of body damage, repair of frames and unibody, glass installation, methods in paint refinishing. Students will also learn Automotive Business and Shop Management techniques.
- We are the sole NAETF Master certified Post-high school learning facility located in Rhode Island. After graduation, you will be even closer to attaining your ASE certification, as you will have earned a whole years' credit already!
- PPG Industries, centers that utilize satellite training, are offered.
Automotive Service Management Technology
A 4 year Bachelors Degree program that is flexible with both day and evening classes. Skills such as communication, business, management and technique will be refreshed with each student.

Marine Technology Associate's Degree
This program is an intensive look at the marine technical industry and its implementation of the latest advances within marine technology. The demand for highly trained expert technicians is sky high right now. A student will become in tune with design, theory of operation and service techniques for a variety of automotive systems. A student will become very aware of engine, transmission, electrical, fuel and emissions systems. The coursework features a focus on electronic ignition and fuel injection systems, as well as computerized engine regulation.
The program utilizes the latest and best electronic engine and system diagnostic test equipment. Marine functions handle all service and install all systems. Our entire faculty has ABYC, Volvo, and Mercury Marine factory certifications. The Marine Technology Department at the New England location provides Volvo Penta Marine advanced instruction for pupils who are eligible. Completion of the Marine Technology Program will mean you are qualified to be a certified Volvo Penta Technician.
Our collaboration with the American Boat builders and Repairs Association (ABBRA), the Massachusetts Marine Trades Association (MMTA) and the Rhode Island Marine Trades Association (RIMTA) has enables us to provide scholarships for eligible students.
Aviation Science Technology and Flight Training
The New England Institute of Technology Aviation Science Technology and Flight Training course combines academic studies and flight training to prepare graduates for a vast array of jobs in the air transportation field including general, airline and corporate aviation.
Students will receive the necessary flight training to be able to function well in modern airspace. All courses in flight training occur at a facility which is FAA-certified and licensed. In the Associate of Science degree program for Aviation Science Technology, pupils become qualified for testing to become FAA certifed as a Private, Commercial or Instrument Pilot or Flight Instructor. Certification examinations such as Instrument Flight Instructor, Multi-Engine, and Multi-Engine Instructor can be taken by eligible students through the course of the Associate in Science Degree in Advanced Aviation Science Technology.
The course of study focuses on critical thought processes and analysis, along with proficiency in spoken and written communication. With a focus on safety awareness, the program also underlines the importance of human variables and proper resource management techniques. In order to complete the intensive flight training, it involves both classroom work as well as the use of flight simulators.
The course of study readies grads for jobs with governmental and civil avionic groups as commercial pilots and flight managers, in the areas of executive, agricultural, private and air carrier sectors. It is possible for you to start your career as a certified flight instructor which leads into positions in the airlines and corporate flight departments.
Students who possess either an Associate of Science Degree in Aviation Science Technology or an Associate of Science Degree in Advanced Aviation Science Technology can go on to earn a Bachelor of science in Business Management Technology at New England Tech.
Program Mission Statement: The aim of the AAST or Advanced Aviation Science Technology course of study is to furnish further instruction in aviation after finishing the Aviation Science Technology coursework. Students become more prepared for careers with advanced flight and technical aviation training.
Goals of the Program:
- The AAST program will offer specific learning opportunities for attendees to get the theoretical information, particular skills and demeanor required for entry level jobs in the aviation industry.
