Why Should I Specialize as a Buell Motorcycle Mechanic?

The Buell Motorcycle Company is an American manufacturer founded by ex-Harley-Davidson engineer Erik Buell in 1983, producing racing motorcycles using Harley-Davidson engines. Harley-Davidson purchased majority stock in Buell in 2003, and Buell has been a subsidiary of Harley-Davidson ever since. Buell motorcycles are known for innovative and efficient design.

Buell design is all about handling and maneuverability. Keeping the motorcycle mass as close to the center of gravity as possible insures a tighter turning radius and makes for nimble handling, on the street or on the racetrack.

Buell offers a bright future. It's one of the most innovative and forward-thinking companies in operation today, but offers the solid backing and dependable reputation of Harley-Davidson, enabling big company benefits and opportunities within a small company atmosphere. Specialization makes a candidate far more attractive to a prospective employer, increasing the chance of being hired. Buell motorcycle mechanics would be an excellent choice of specialization.

The Buell job market is excellent, but with so many motorcycles on the road, jobs at other shops are readily available as well. Specialized training is required to service the unique Buell design and Harley-Davidson engine, and there are several options available.

Harley-Davidson/Buell has partnered with the following four colleges:

Some of these schools offer internship programs with Harley-Davidson dealerships. All offer two-year associate degrees and bachelor's degrees with basic education plus emphasis on Harley-Davidson courses.

The following schools offer post-secondary education with specialized Harley-Davidson training:

MMI offers job placement assistance and most course materials, including tools, are supplied. Scholarships and need-based tuition reduction programs are available for those who qualify.
